Topic: “Internationalization of higher education in fostering innovation ecosystem in the VUCA world”

Objectives: Human today is immersed in a VUCA environment, a fast changing world where Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity are affecting the way things operate. This new multi-polar world is challenging for all of us, as we have to defend our current position while creating the necessary innovation to comply with the new realities. Innovation has always been a standing concern of human beings and in this evolving world. In the context of globalization, it has been proved to be a must for the development of nations and business community. Innovation stimulates economics advancement and national competitiveness. In other words, innovation competence, especially in field of science and technology, should be a prerequisite for the enhancement of national competitive advantages.

In order to promote innovation, higher education can be a key driver. For the future labour market, high-quality human resources should be trained with a spirit of innovation and creativity. The higher education institutions equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills, initiates the entrepreneurial mind set. At the same time, building and fostering innovation ecosystem has been the priority of many governments as it is expected to be a good basis to make breakthrough in socio-economic development.  It is now the time for higher education institutions to put themselves in this loop by mobilizing viable resources to strengthen the innovation ecosystem. International cooperation in higher education facilitates the acquisition of necessary resources for innovation scattering, enables joint development, and permits knowledge to be shared. Therefore, it is important for scholars and practitioners to join hand thinking about how to elevate the    innovation ecosystem through partnership in higher education.

The Forum on Internationalization of Higher Education 2021 will create a platform for researchers, practitioners, and higher education experts to share their insights, studies, experiences and lessons related to fostering innovation ecosystem.
